Equinix pricing
Equinix pricing for a full cabinet with 5 kW of power generally runs between $1,000 and $3,000 a month, according to Vendr.
PeeringDB lists 60 Equinix sites in 19 of the 48 cities this site covers.

These are third-party estimates in US dollars, not an Equinix rate card. Equinix prices colocation by quote.
Colocation means you rent space, power and cooling for your own servers in a data center someone else runs. At Equinix that space is a cabinet.
Equinix cabinet prices next to other providers' racks: a market comparison
| Size | Power included | Price a month |
|---|---|---|
| Equinix, by quote (Vendr range) | ||
| Full cabinet | 5 kW | $1,000 to $3,000 |
| Other retail providers, published list price | ||
| Quarter rack, about 10U | 0.6 kW | $330 to $399 |
| Half rack, about 21U | 1.2 kW | $530 to $699 |
| Full rack, 42U | 2.4 kW | $930 to $999 |
The Equinix cabinet includes 5 kW of power, about twice the 2.4 kW in a retail full rack, so part of the price gap is the extra power.
Retail rows are the list prices Sectorlink and Colocation America publish. The Equinix row is Vendr's range for what buyers pay. A kW (kilowatt) is a unit of electric power.
Expect the higher end of that, roughly $1,500 to $3,000, if you're looking at New York or Silicon Valley. Dallas and Atlanta come in cheaper, nearer the $1,000 to $2,000 mark. Anything beyond that, like added power, cabling to other firms or staff help, shows up as separate charges.
What you get with Equinix colocation, and what the fee includes
With colocation, the servers belong to you and Equinix supplies everything around them: the building, power and cooling. What you rent is a cabinet, a lockable metal rack roughly person height.
The charge is normally per cabinet each month, and it includes power up to a fixed cap, most often 5 kW or 8 kW for each cabinet, per Vendr. A kW tells you how much electricity your gear pulls at any moment, so it sets how much equipment fits in the cabinet.
Typical Equinix prices
Vendr reported these ranges, so they aren't official Equinix prices.
| Item | Typical price |
|---|---|
| New York or Silicon Valley: full 5 kW cabinet | $1,500 to $3,000 monthly |
| Dallas or Atlanta: full 5 kW cabinet | $1,000 to $2,000 monthly |
| Power beyond the cabinet's included amount, per kW | $150 to $300 monthly |
| Cross connect | $100 to $300 monthly per cable, plus $500 to $1,500 to set up |
| Remote hands | $150 to $250 hourly |
| Smart hands | $200 to $350 hourly |
Think of a cross connect as a cable running from your cabinet to another company in the building, for example the firm that supplies your internet. Remote hands and smart hands are both names for Equinix staff handling your equipment when you're not on site, and smart hands is the pricier of the two.
Equinix sites by city
The last column is a wholesale market benchmark for all operators: CBRE asking rent per kW a month for deals of 250 kW and up (first half of 2026), not a price from Equinix.

Sites as listed in PeeringDB (one listing can cover a campus of several buildings). Sites in green have their own page. A dash under Networks means PeeringDB lists no networks at that site. A dash under rent means the city is outside the 16 markets in the CBRE report.
How long do you commit, and what happens if you need more power?
The three-year term is the one Equinix customers sign most often, and it costs less than a one-year deal, per Vendr. Having a clear idea of your stay makes comparing offers easier.
Use more power than your contract permits and the overage gets billed at 20 to 50% above the usual power rate. Measuring what your servers really draw before signing helps you pick an allowance that matches.
Does location change the price?
Yes. Looking across 16 markets, CBRE recorded asking rents from $155 to $275 per kW each month, with Silicon Valley at the top and Central Washington, Seattle and Denver at the bottom. Those figures apply to deals of 250 kW and above, so treat them as a rough signal of which cities cost more, not as Equinix's own pricing.
PeeringDB shows 60 Equinix sites spread across 19 of the 48 cities covered here. One listing can cover a campus holding several buildings, which is why the count is by site.
To use the site's price tool, you tell it your market plus the space and power you're after, and it replies with a ballpark figure for what you'd pay each month, in US dollars.
Equinix Fabric pricing
Fabric is Equinix's service for linking your gear privately to clouds and other businesses over its own network. Monthly prices by speed, as reported by Vendr:
| How fast the link is | Cost each month |
|---|---|
| 50 Mbps up to 1 Gbps | $50–$150 |
| 10 Gbps | $200–$500 |
The monthly fee is flat, based on the speed you order, no matter how much you actually use it, according to Equinix.
Questions people ask
Do Fabric contracts renew without you asking?
They do. A Fabric term carries on by itself, and stopping it means giving notice no later than 90 days out from the end of the term, according to Equinix. Writing that date down when you sign keeps cancellation within reach if you ever need it.
Who is Equinix's biggest competitor?
By site count, it's Digital Realty. Across the 48 cities covered here, Digital Realty runs 68 sites against Equinix's 60, per PeeringDB.
Why do people know the Equinix name?
The sheer number of networks that meet inside Equinix buildings. Its Ashburn campus hosts 523 networks along with 8 internet exchanges, and no other site listed has more networks, per PeeringDB. Behind it come Miami with 336 and Chicago with 335.
Can I get actual quotes for what I need?
Yes, and quotes cost nothing. Just describe the space and power you need, the city, your timing and how long a contract you want. As many as 3 colocation providers or brokers that have room in that city will email you directly with pricing.
